Minnesota International Center - A World Affairs Council

Bring the World Home – for Dinner!

Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, China, Costa Rica,  Egypt, Germany, India, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Nicaragua, Philippines, Poland, Qatar, South Africa, Sweden, Togo, Turkey, Uruguay…

…just a few of the 100 countries represented by international visitors, for whom dinners were arranged recently by MIC.

Many MIC members enjoy opening their homes and gaining new insights into today’s world in this informal way.  Hosting international guests helps MIC promote global exchange and understanding between Minnesotans and citizens of the world.

International visitor leaders, students and scholars enjoy having dinner in the homes of MIC members to learn about life in the United States and to share up-to-date information and insights about their cultures and world events.  MIC regularly arranges dinners for visiting mid-career professionals who are here as guests of the U.S. State Department and for international students and scholars, in particular those who are studying at the University of Minnesota.  Student dinners are arranged periodically during the academic year, especially for holiday celebrations.
