Minnesota International Center - A World Affairs Council

Why invite an international speaker into your classroom?

Intercultural knowledge and skills equip your students to more effectively function in our increasingly multicultural society.  Although many young people may not have opportunities to travel, the world is at their doorstep.  Classroom conversations provide lively and personal interaction, face-to-face with people from around the globe.  In addition to being a creative and fun aspect of your curriculum, this program also:

  • Helps students develop a deeper understanding of and respect for other cultures as well as their own.
  • Explores cultural differences and similarities by engaging students in a cross-cultural conversation.
  • Affirms the multicultural nature of Minnesota
  • Encourages students to reflect on and share their own cultures and intercultural experiences.
