Great Decisions - Public Diplomacy
Monday, January 26, 2004

In an informal group setting, Thomas Hanson, retired foreign service officer, will discuss how Americans can become more engaged in global issues; how foreign policy is developed and managed; and how the U.S. can reach citizens in other countries. Mr. Hanson's postings while with the U.S. State Department from 1973-1994 included East Germany, France, Norway, the former Soviet Union, Georgia, Estonia and Sweden. Currently, he is Program Secretary for the Minneapolis Council on Foreign Relations, a consultant with MIC's Great Decisions program and frequent speaker for Great Decisions discussion groups.

While this event is open to all, MIC's Great Decisions group leaders, speakers and participants are especially invited. The 2004 briefing books will be available that evening, if ordered in advance. For information about pre-ordering materials, please contact Carol at csteinbe@globe.mic.umn.edu or 612.625.2101.
