Wednesday, March 3, 2004
|
Join MIC for World Chat on the first Wednesday of each month. On March 3, hear Ali Khalif Gulaydh, former prime minister and one-time minister of industry for Somalia, give an update on Somalia. For six months in 2000, Professor Galaydh, with 650 other delegates, participated in the Somali National Peace Conference which drafted a National Charter. This assembly of delgates then selected a 245-member Parliament, and Professor Galaydh was invited to become Prime Minister in September 2000 and served until December 2001.
He currently teaches courses on the politics of public affairs, strategies for economic development, and the role of non-governmental organizations in governance at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, where he is a visiting professor. Professor Galaydh has an MA and a PhD from Syracuse University.
Please note location for this World Chat. Parking is available in the East River ramp near Coffman Union, accessible by taking Washington Avenue to Church Street to the Delaware Street SE ramp entrance.
