Background: The Minnesota International Center (MIC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, community organization. Our mission is to inspire community to understand global issues and cultures in an ever changing world. MIC is affiliated with the World Affairs Councils of America, the Foreign Policy Association, the National Council for International Visitors and NAFSA: the Association of International Educators.
Community Programs includes the coordination of discussion groups, dinner hosting and volunteers. Great Decisions is a citizen-based discussion program sponsored nationally by the Foreign Policy Association and coordinated locally by MIC. Dinner hosting provides MIC members opportunities to meet and host international guests. MIC offers various volunteer opportunities throughout the organization. The volunteer program at MIC is an evolving and expanding program. |
Responsibilities/Duties:
To assist the Community Programs Manager, the intern will provide program assistance arranging and confirming hosts for international guests, gathering and mailing program materials, preparing for programs, tracking program participation and other data, and responding to inquiries. Tasks include:
- Preparing correspondence and mailings
- Updating data
- Communicating with participants by phone, mail or email as needed.

Qualifications:
Careful attention to detail and availability 2-3 times (including Wednesday afternoon) per week desirable. Interest in world affairs, community service, intercultural communication and volunteer coordination. Excel skills desirable. |
