Position Title: International Visiting Professionals Program Intern

Supervisor: International Visiting Professionals Program Manager

Background:  The Minnesota International Center (MIC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan community organization. Our mission is to inspire our community to understand global issues and cultures in an ever changing world. MIC is affiliated with the World Affairs Councils of America, the Foreign Policy Association, the National Council for International Visitors and NAFSA: the Association of International Educators.

The International Visitor Leadership Program operates under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State, bringing emerging leaders from all over the world to Minnesota to meet with their professional counterparts without publicity or protocol. MIC arranges professional and cultural meetings for more than 300 State Department International Visitors annually on a wide variety of topics including education, trade, human rights, journalism and more. These meetings facilitate a global exchange of ideas between local and international leaders.

Responsibilities/Duties:

To work in an administrative capacity for programs in the following areas:
  • Draft itineraries for visitor programs
  • Write proposals to bring new groups of international visitors to Minnesota
  • Maintain database and files on visitors and community contacts
  • Coordinate follow-up mailings *track program statistics
Qualifications:

Professional phone manner, internet research skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Strong writing skills preferred. Interest in international or intercultural relations and global affairs recommended.
