Volunteer Opportunities

The Minnesota International Center (MIC) highly values member involvement. Several volunteer opportunities for members are described below. If you are not a member and would like to become one, click here for membership information.

ESCORT - Provide transportation and informal mentoring for international speakers participating in MIC's dynamic International Classroom Connection. Escorting assignments are scheduled during daytime hours, Monday-Friday, and take 3 - 4 hours each. Safe driving record is a must; availability at least once a month desirable.

DISCUSSION GROUP LEADER - Facilitate community discussion groups focused on eight specific world affairs topics. Participants use expertly-written briefing materials prepared by the national Foreign Policy Association. Discussion groups meet eight times per year at a mutually convenient location and set their own schedules. MIC supports the groups with materials and speakers, and helps group leaders to organize their group. Orientation and consultation is available from MIC.

OFFICE VOLUNTEER - Help MIC occasionally during office hours with light tasks such as copying, collating, preparing mailings and entering data. Office volunteers are contacted as needed and often work in small groups. Availability during daytime hours on an occasional basis is needed.
